Well the loc was a no go. Induced too much noise. Tried a few things and didn't go away. So, off the rane goes back to Todd for a simple mod (see above discussion with chad). Basically just going to reduce the input at the rane itself.

In the mean time I'm working away at the trunk

Shit happens. It's a pretty specialized ting you are doing here, Murphy always seems to have a front row seat in these types of things.

Got that right! And I knew going in the rane route would bring extra challenges. Thankfully Todd knows what he's doing.

    Re: 2012 Charger - Veronica

I've been busy redoing my amp rack. Layout is basically the same as the previous one, however this version will fold down via two linear actuators. My primary motivation was to move the fuse block, and also to make the rack easily removable. The back side will house the fuse blocks (two now), and showcase all the quick disconnect wiring.

The biggest issue I faced was how to hinge it. The amps are not light, even though they are small, and I did not want a big hinge to be viewable when it is all said and done. I spent quite a bit of time contemplating this. I looked at various hinges available and none of them seemed to fit my needs. So, I made my own.

I started with some angle iron and 1x1" square tube which I already had. A trip to the local ace hardware netted me a couple quick release pins sturdy enough to support the weight and it just so happened they had some nylon bushing that made a nice snug fit with the pin and happened to be the perfect size to fit into the tube without cutting. A lucky find for sure.

Parts in hand, I set out to cutting and welding...

Outside hing and brace. The 1/2" cross piece was temporary to keep the two sides aligned. A 1x1" piece was later welded in just underneath where the box sits for strength. Here you can see where I took some angle iron to make the outside portion of the hinge itself. I did this because the pin wasn't long enough to go through two pieces of 1x1 and through the wood side of the box. It took some cutting and fitment, but it works.

Here is the inside portion with the quick release pin. You can see the nylon bushing in here as well.
