Re: Altima Coupe SQ build
Not much progress this weekend but I did get the power wire ran through the firewall. I was really dreading this job.
The only place I could find to run it was in a tight little area behind the driver’s side strut tower. I could barely get my hand back there.

I had to cut through the rubber grommet from the inside of the vehicle. I could get any leverage to cut from the engine bay.

Most of the components will be delivered today. Hopefully I will be able to make some progress next weekend.

Nope, my daily driver. She has a 2017 Altima. I’m stuck with the old cars.

Did you ever put a system in hers, or am I still to refer to you as "asshole"?

I’m still an asshole.
However, had I put one in hers I would still be an asshole.

Fair enough. I'm looking forward to what you do with this one.

It’s going to be very simple.

Looks like everything that can be Morel is Morel.

Re: Altima Coupe SQ build
Well I had hoped to get more done than I did this weekend but that didn’t work out. I spent most of my weekend doing an install in a Honda Element.
Anyway, this is what I did and I hate it. The factory positive terminal has a built in fuse / distribution block so I had to keep it. Later on down the road I will have to figure something out. I can’t live with this long term.

Here’s the factory crap that I had to keep.

Can you use one of those Knuconceptz Ultimate battery connector, with the additional post to keep the factory connector?

Nice work on the a-pillar with bondo. Looks easier to work with than fiberglass. Will keep that in mind.

Thanks. I used fiberglass as a first layer to fill in all the holes. After that was bondo since it really didn’t have to be that thick.

Re: Altima Coupe SQ build
What brand connectors are those?
EDIT: I found them...AEC ARP-4044

Same plastic end, but different barrel... I looked too, but couldn’t find any with the grooves cut around the base, very similar style end though, if not the same with a different barrel
look a very compact plug compared to the reans I used for my home brew RCA’s... the only downside I see to those is the lack of shielding present on the run between plugs... however I can honestly say I’ve never picked up noise in an install bar once or twice when I had... ironically... a damaged rca lead or a blown pico fuse on a pioneer 👍🏼 I will however be knocking some up exactly like those with silver plated copper to see if I can hear any difference to my van Damme/rean combo I currently have kicking about 👍🏼

If the glue is freezing , heat is necessary or doing it over is an option ?

It seemed to work okay. There weren't any really complicated pieces. These panels aren't as critical as others will be.
Re: Altima Coupe SQ build
Bruce, you sure are a Morel fan. I am glad that they have been so good to you.

I've heard the amps in Jeremy W's old Audi and they sounded pretty good. That's the only time I've heard them but I have confidence in them. They really have taken good care of me on the speakers so I have to give them a shot. Plus, Casey is a pretty dang good guy.
Re: Altima Coupe SQ build
Loving the build, especially the RCA's and the use of the security screws! Although, for me, I'd have to stock up on security bits for fear of losing them LOL.
On a personal level, I'm terrible with names, but I believe we met at bertholomeys May GTG... I think you were driving a 4 Runner and brought your wife, do I have that correct?

Glad you cleared things up and mentioned the cane. There were so many ugly guys there that really wouldn't have narrowed it down. ;)

Re: Altima Coupe SQ build
I made some more progress on the car this weekend. I still have a lot to do but it’s getting closer. Everything in the trunk is at the level of the factory floor with the exception of the subwoofer. It sticks up approximately 3/4” above the factory floor. Everything except the sub is protected by plexiglass.
I started doing the wiring. All wires will be protected with techflex and secured with zip ties every six inches or less and attached to the floor to make sure nothing moves. Any splices are made via solder and heat shrink.
The cover panels are press fit and I can get to any fuse by removing one or two screws. I used Phillips head screws on the plexiglass to make it easier to remove in case of an emergency. All components are secured using tamper resistant torx head screws. Screws used to mount the subwoofer are temporary until I find some #8 x 2” security screws.

Re: Altima Coupe SQ build
Very cool that you managed to squeeze all that below the factory carpet and can fit you bike in there no problem... Nice work!
