In the past I have asked for help with projects and the results have been stellar. I asked for help to measure some popular speakers and wrote a report that was very informative. I asked for donations of materials to test a common rule of thumb with sound treatments and the result was incredible.
I want to try something new.
I need your help again.
What is this?
I want to observe your workflow and thought process when you simulate or model anything such as: design a completed speaker, an enclosure, a passive crossover, research which woofers to use in a box, plan how many watts you need in an amplifier, and so on. I'm interested in what software you use, how you use it, and why you prefer it. I'm also interested in what software you avoid using and why, and what software you would like to use if you could afford it and why. This does not have to be a new simulation or modeling project. You could also recreate how you approached a recent project.
TO BE CLEAR: I am not asking for you to write out all of your thoughts here. I do not want to read. Reading is actually counter-productive to what I want to accomplish here. I want to observe in real-time.
How?
I would like a screen share while you work and a phone call so we can talk. I would like to record both so I can review them later.
When?
Any weekend or any weekday evening, mountain time. The session will be one hour.
Why?
I want to make designing acoustic projects more intuitive, faster, and higher quality.
What level of experience am I looking for?
Everyone and all skill levels. I want to see the workflow of a professional that is designing things every week. I want to see how an enthusiast approaches a problem a few times a year. I want to watch someone who tried to model a sub enclosure one time but didn't get very far and gave up. I want to see how you organize your thoughts and how you take notes. I want to know where you struggle and where you thrive in the creative process no matter who you are.
Why should you help?
I can simply give you money or offer my expertise with something you would like to learn. I want this exchange to feel valuable to you too.
