If it were me I'd do those Elac towers with a receiver that can swing 4 ohm loads and get a separate amp later if you think you need it.

I'd side with Erin on this one.
Elac for the price and buy a nice subwoofer for your application. Well, actually, buy 3 subwoofers lol

So I went out and made my purchases today. Spent a couple of hours listening to lots of options in my price range and settled on the Klipsch RP500-M on closeout for $255 for the pair.
I listened to the ELAC's with about 150WPC off a 2 Channel McIntosh amp and they just didnt have the life and attack the Klipsch drivers had.
I listened for a LONG time to the B&W 606 bookshelf drivers on the Mcinstosh then off an Anthem and a Yamaha. they were airy, light but not thin and very nice, but they were just nice.
I listened to Martin Logan Motion 20i's for about 30 minutes and really wanted to buy them but just couldn't see the value over the Klipsch.
In the end the Klipsch gave me everything I wanted at 1/3 the price I had budgeted for drivers. I turned around and bought a new Marantz SR5012 receiver on closeout for $550 and walked out of there with everything I needed for well under what I had originally budgeted.

Exactly what I did with my Definitive Tech bookshelfs when I replaced them with the Amiga tower. They work much nicer than the old satellites I had. Some cheap parts express bookshelf set, which are now used as atmos speakers.Nice score.
And the good thing is when you go the HT route you can use those bookshelf Klipsch for rear/surround speakers.

That is exactly what the plan is. In March I’m probably going to move up to the Atmos towers since Sara is now wow’d by this little bit and is asking If we can make this a theater space as well.

2nd or 3rd'ing Denon receivers and ELAC speakers. I've been happy with Denon for my last 3 receivers and have a pair of ELAC debut 6's i use as computer bookshelf speakers, but if i was buying new HT speakers i'd go with ELAC. But I'm still using some 15yr? old polk towers rti10's i think for HT towers/center/surround.
Best thing about HT speakers, if you buy good speakers, you rarely have to replace them.
