    Home alarm

    Hi guyz,
I'm moving to a new place soon ; will start a home audio and home cinema setup and therefore am looking for a nice alarm.
Don't know much about it to be honest and would like some suggestion.

    Requirements:
    - can be connected to a landline in order to call me when it goes off
    - can be connected to a camera
    - is not that difficult to setup ; I'd like to DIY if at all possible

    Thanks,
    Kelvin

Find Deephaven, he is the boss at home automation.

    get one of these:

I do have to question though... Why does building a home A/V rig suddenly inspire you to do security? Or is it something you want to integrate with automation and figured that now was the time to knock it all out?

    Deephaven... Noted. Thanks

I was living in an appartment 'till now and never really felt the need for an alarm. Ok I do have a few costly car audio stuffs but since we have a concierge/guardian, I felt it was OK.
The place we're moving in has lot's of bay window, so easy to break in and I do want to protect what I'm about to buy:
    - Either Gedlee Abbey ($6k) or Emerald Physics CS2.3 ($6k)
    - a panasonic projector ($1,5)
    - an upgraded Marantz AV7701 240V ($2k)
    - a Coincident M300B Frankenstein MK II ($6k) - for stereo
    - D-Sonic M2-3500-7 ($4,2) - for mulchannel amplification
Then you multiply all of the above price by 2 coz of shipping to Tahiti + import taxes

Yes, been saving for a really long time

Multiply it X5 an that's what I spend on a projector alone in a big lecture hall... wide open to the public. Costs 2500 bucks just to re-lamp it.

Fair warning.. young rotties will test your patience.. The one in the pic is one year old... And thinking about taking up a career as a cross-cut shredder.

aaand they are a working breed, don't expect a big lazy dog that just turns it on, think crazy fucking dog that you have to turn off manually.

If you are on Facebook go like "Boris The Rottweiler" The antics are posted often.

Don't have Facebook but I'll ask one of my friend to show me.

Chad, I tried to look for deephaven but all I got was alarm dealer addresses in Deephaven... Do you have a link to their website?

    Thanks,
    Kelvin

    How about iSpy? http://www.ispyconnect.com/

Sound & motion detection using webcams &/or mics & my favorite thing about anything ITS FREE! Its probably not got everything you are looking for. It can be setup to alert you if there are any sounds or movement. I know it's really not a security system but it maybe something that maybe worth trying. It works for what I wanted/needed & has for years
