    Dendrochronology?

Oh wait, that's a different kind of tree ring.

I have a Sweetgum tree that the roots grow along the ground. It had a small, round, concrete ring when we bought house. Always looked like crap (tuned it twice). So time to do something different.

Had some old plastic border laying around.

Dug it in, added dirt and 4 Mirage Hot Pink Autumn Sage plants.

Not 100% satisfied, but much better than before. Think I'll like it more when plants mature

    Thanks

It was kinda clownish, weather couldn't decide if it was gonna rain or not. Every time I started working, it would start to drizzle

A great idea, the main thing is to choose the right flowers and organize the flower bed itself carefully so as not to damage the root system of the tree. But your situation, I think everything will be fine!

Interesting. What all do y'all use for borders? I've put up some angled brick by our walkway that keeps falling over (the mortar adhesive stuff didn't seem to stick very well) - thought about trying a different adhesive, or changing it completely. Also have some trees that need a circle around them for easier maintenance.

Did this with some landscaping blocks I found in the backyard:

    Are you not entertained?!?!
