Just from my own experimenting with foam vs other absorption materials. If you plan to make most of your center console full of an absorption product. I'd look towards rockwool.

Well today I have spent 6hrs explaining to a guy how to use rew for timing in my little workshop, we concluded a umik does not present a stable timing measurement tool, my Dayton mic with m-audio usb soundcard however does and enables decent timing and phase measurement with rew
I will probably do some videos about setting up the phase relationships and timing with less than 100 pounds worth of kit, timing and phase is everything to getting a system to gel and sound like a whole, I will share these on here as well as my teams shop page
Ooooh sb acoustics satori mw16p-4 are a very sexy driver... just cut some rings and will plough on this week in the evenings and then next week when I have a week off pics to follow!
Dsp ultra on its way to me dsp pro 2 is now going to be put in one of our team cars for the euros in Salzburg in March... along with a zapco z150.6ii and a z1kd as well, the front stage in that car is HAT l1se, L3se and L65mk2 with a hybrid imagine 12 in the boot for now as it does the job very nicely, I can’t wait to get it all fitted and tune it with the pro 2, exciting times ahead, he won the EMMA league championship in the U.K. this year but the euros is a whole different kettle of fish... I’ll post pics of it’s amp rack and how the boot turns out in good time
i had made a start on it with a pair of hybrid 5 channels... but amp change means a different layout

Got the dsp ultra in tonight, oddly it doesn’t seem to use a position from the dsp for the other 29 slots like a dsp pro with director, rather it still uses the ten spots in the dsp, no extra spots is a bit weird, however I don’t think I’ve ever used more than eight stored tunes, however I do love the switching speed of the ACO processor in the ultra
as far as sound, maybe it’s a touch more transparent and the stage sounds a little more defined, but it may also be the new ears hearing stuff I’ve not heard before as I’m listening more carefully, it’s definitely no worse than the dsp pro, and way slicker as a user experience, I shall have a play with the stage expander I think and see what happens with that, but I am also not a fan of extra stuff I don’t need in the signal path... jury’s out on that for now I reckon, I was just glad to get it in
in other news I’ve cut couple of 18mm ply rings to suit the dash mounting scenario, ended up at 140 169 (satori are 165 from memory... but ignore the cut out dimensions on the spec sheet, needs to be 3-4mm bigger due to the spokes protruding out a little... and the outside of my rings were 177, I will post pics as I make the side pods for the satori drivers
Testing various aiming...
First aim was good, a little peaky but the left strayed inward at 160hz the most, tried a little more on axis and it seemed to get better and the driver being more upright gets an extra inch or two of width 😎 and also 160hz tone is still inside the driver ie less left, but it’s definitely wider than more upwards
Pictures speak a thousand words

The left probably strayed inward because your steering wheel is in the wrong side.
