    Re: What's your setup.

Last night wife and I were in the basement watching TV. She knows I want to do something small, 2.1 setup, and said how she wished we had something to listen to music and for movies down there.
I got the green light to do something small so now its go time before she changes her mind.

Thinking about something like the Cambridge Audio CXA, Marantz NR1200 or a Rotel RSX receiver. Unsure on drivers but wouldn't mind the Elac Unifi's, KEF Q150's or Tannoy DC1's.

    KEEPER!

And any one of those speakers should sound amazing. Would be a really tough choice for me. The Elac Unifi towers really intrigue me.
They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

She definitely is Chris. One of the amazing things about her is her love of music. My FIL used to own a record store that became a used CD store so she grew up around music and has a true love of it.
The Elac UniFi Im looking at is the 5' Bookshelf with the 3 way setup. I've heard the KEF's and Tannoys but not the Elac's, Its going to be one of those whichever one is the best price over the next few weeks.
I have a set of 8" Andrew Jones Pioneer bookshelf cabinets that have been sitting I will start with, the receiver is the first purchase next week.

I think my next step will be this guy for the speakers to hammer in a more tame curve and then either a second or the one that does double the power for the sub. Will probably build a box for them to live in so they aren't married to the sub enclosure. Would be convenient to have them bolted to the sub box just for the sake of one less "box" to deal with and add weight to it for a more secure footing to the floor.

    Re: What's your setup.

I have a build of my Home Theater here, but this is the equipment rundown:

    Denon AVR-X4000

Speakers positioned behind the screen on a false wall that is blacked out and covered with 2" wedge foam and a layer of black grille cloth to hide the speakers.
JBL 2035PHL 15" Woofers in 4 cubic foot ported enclosures tuned to about 50hz
    JBL 2446J/2380A Compression Drivers/Horns

    Surround Speakers:
    JBL 8330A Rear Speakers

    Subs:
2x Stereo Integrity HT18 in 4 cubic foot enclosures, ported and tuned to about 19hz powered by Crown XLS2002

Currently using a 15 year old Yamaha home theater in a box.

Recently acquired a older Marantz 7.1 receiver to use as a starting point to build something better.

in process of researching speakers while I try and save for something nice. debating on if I want to buy or build as DIY sound group has some interesting looking kits.
