2004 Dodge Ram 1500 (round 2)

Hey everyone,

Started this build log over on that other site, but figured I'd come post it here too since I'll be trying to do some work with Dave on a few things and he's here more than there.

Unfortunately my JSW was lost avoiding a deer (rip), so I took my insurance check and got back into a Dodge Ram. Picked up an 04 Laramie with the Hemi and 4wd for a pretty damn good deal. It has the stock Infinity system which in all honesty isn't that bad for stock.

My equipment list is as follows:

Headunit: Alpine ILX-007

Processor: DEQ.8

Midbass: ID x69 in the doors

Highs: Full Size HLCD (probably the Pro drivers) from Eric Stevens

Substage: 1 JBL GTO 15 in a custom center console (maybe 2 if I can squeeze it in there)

So far I've installed the Alpine and deadened the front doors. Ordering the horns this Friday (payday) and as soon as they show up I'll have all my equipment in hand. Gonna try to get everything installed, minus the sub(s), by the end of April.

I'll get some pictures of the headunit installed later today, but until then here are some pics of the truck and the Kenwood that I had before the Alpine.

Slightly delayed but here's a pic of the Alpine ILX-007 installed with a Metra double din kit for the 02-05 Rams. You can also see my ProClip mount for my iPhone 6.



The install kit actually looks fairly good and fits fairly well, but installing it requires breaking the plastic welds of the stock piece. You also will have to cut some of the plastic "framing" behind the radio to fit anything other than this Alpine (I had to for the old Kenwood).

I am having some issues with the Axxess wiring adapter though; the wire for the left front signal seems to be loose at the Axxess unit itself. Not a big deal since I'll be putting in amps soon and using the RCA outputs.

Forgot to mention in my first post that my amps with be a pair of Kenwood XR900-5's. Looking at bridging one on the horns and the other on the x69's and then running each voice coil of the 15 with one of the sub channels from the amp (unless I can fit 2 15's)
