Thread: What's your setup.

    Re: What's your setup.

Thanks for the comments guys. I found a pic from when installing the 802's; they're massively smaller than our Linia (that's how we baptised them) DIY speakers. Not quite as impressive in the low frequencies (in fact they are quite bass shy), but definitely more accurate than our own.

And this is my other DIY set, this one I made myself. Small bookshelf speakers, A4 size front (quite deep though) with matching stands, flush mounted Peerless 5" midbass and Vifa tweeter on the routered baffle. Screwless cabin as well, it took 12 massive clamps while the glue bonded, in every step. It was my first DIY venture and I'm quite proud of them and their construction. It was all very well documented on a greek forum but alas, the owner decided to take down the server and all info/pics were lost.

My biggest constraint is the room. It's very narrow and long (3.6m X 8m), that couch needs to stay there, and at the right side there's an opening that leads to my bedroom (it's one shared space, like a small studio). Far from ideal.

That's funny, I made a similar set in A4 size with a 6,5" Pioneer PRS component set.. TS-M7PRS, TS-T3PRS and diy crossover.. Sounded really good in a small room close to the wall ( BR on the back )

    Re: What's your setup.

New speakers were delivered today. Magnepan 1.7i's.

    Rest of equipment:
    Adcom GTP-500
    Oppo BDP-103D
    Crown Xls 1500 and 2000
Technics SL-D2 (soon to be replaced)

Still need to build the sub enclosures, rearrange the room and finish the install in my car so I can get all interior parts reinstalled and off the living room floor.

    Re: What's your setup.

I have a cheap $250 Andrew Jones soundbar, far from anything fancy. When it comes to home theater, for whatever reason, I just don't care how it sounds so long as I can hear voices really well. In fact I usually switch the soundbar over to voice mode which turns off the subwoofer because I need that emphasis to hear when people are whispering and whatnot. I used to have a large receiver and 5.1 setup Klipsche stuff but it didn't do anything for me in the immersive sense and even with night mode set, some parts of movies would be really loud and people talking more softly would still require me to crank up the volume.....screw that crap.

I have a PS4 but only played 1 game on it (shadow fall) so it has a lot of dust on it. Using a 55" samsung TV and a $25 dvd player lol. But I watch TV like maybe 3 hours worth a month so it's no big deal.
