The bare-bones Stereo install for a bare-bones car

I was THIS close to pulling the trigger on one of them for my wife's surprise build. Then I decided to get creative and go 4 way active...I'm a dope who's a glutton for punishment apparently.

Looking forward to seeing your progress on this one. I'll live vicariously through you with the sweet REF amp.

They are stupid good amps, especially given how cheap they are right now.

While I am still using the REF, it's not gonna be in this car any more. It's going into the upcoming "Project Blackburd that will start this spring with some other goodies.

if that's a double DIN it's a bigass knob no?

Bigger the knob the bigger the bass, or so I've heard.

It's not the prettiest HU but seeing as it's going into one of the homeliest cars on the road I'm not too bothered by it.

Yeah, Sony has been catching my eye lately. They are putting some pretty solid features in there lower priced units.

I was gonna say the same thing. I have noticed(and I've only been into audio seriously about 8 years or so) that more lower-end units are beefing up the audio amenities such as ta,eq,xo,etc. So, it's refreshing to be able to get a "simple" headunit without having to add so much to it just to get decent results.

I will say without the sony markings that radio could pass for somewhat stock. I likes.

Oh, wait...I just noticed the markings are UNDER the plastic. I guess manufacturers got tired of people taking their branding off.
