The bare-bones Stereo install for a bare-bones car

We'll since I appraently got really lucky scoring a fairly clean and mechanically sound Tib GT for less than 4K last time I just decided to bite the bullet and get a beater so I can save some more. So without further adieu I present to you possibly the cheapest (but not the worst strangely) car I have ever driven/owned.....

A 2002 Cavalier Base+ Sedan aka El Burritto Blanco

Now this is possibly the worst sounding radio I have ever heard (even worst than the Tibs and the Preludes) but unlike those 2 it can actually pull in a station that is more that 500 yards away.

the rear seats do fold down so I guess my regular box idea goes out the window but it does have space to make molded FG enclosures so that's a plus.

I'm thinking of doing a false floor and hiding the amp/amps under there with a uncoverable plexi "peep show" panel. Will be ordering the dash kit and harness to install my FH-P5000MP so I can at least get some T/A and EQ on the factory drivers for now.

Was thinking that but don't think the GF would like the idea of losing the pass through. Also I don't think my Naks would like IB.

It has an automatic trans, it's not that basic... Last REALLY basic one I drove had a manual, and a weird one at that.

X2 for IB.... OR find a way to really seal off those seats with a trip to Lowe's and some weatherstripping and IB thru the rear deck. BUT that's taking it away from stupid simple.

Gary (minivanman) has a set of simply WICKED 6X9's that would pull IB sub duty.... I see this as being as simple as a 4 channel amp/and headunit. that's what I'm doing for my stupid simple build.

Manual actually cost extra on the base Cav this model year but yeah it's not as "barebones" as the title may say. It's actually a base+, which means I has such luxuries as a passenger side mirror, trip computer, cruise, AM/FM and CD radio, and strangely traction control which with how tall the gearing is has and will probably never kick in.

Yeah IB may not be an option but we'll see

Yeah I'm gonna use my REF5.1000 for a bit and some of the other stuff I have lying around but yeah I'm not gonna go too crazy with this ride.
