Many of you that have met me may know that i like to experiment a bit and that I am a big fan of Dayton Audio. I have been running a single Dayton HO15 in a center console enclosure for about a year now and I am very happy with it, however I want to try something new and I want to go bigger.
In order to go bigger I need more space, don't I? I am not willing to take out my back seat because I have 2 kids and I am not willing to use up my whole bed because I use it (Home Depot runs, etc.), I am however willing to cut a big ass hole between my cab and bed. So my plan is to mount four Dayton IB385-8 Infinite Baffle subs to a manifold at the head of my bed and use a blow thru design to mount them IB between the cab and bed. My bed is fully enclosed and carpeted like a huge trunk so I think this will work.
The combined Sd of all four subs is about 500 square inches and my bed is roughly 54 cubic feet. Based on a 500 sq. in. Sd I need an opening roughly 50" x 10" and the header panel of my bed is 68" x 17" so I have plenty of room for the four subs.
Ok, so the ultimate question is will it work and is it worth it. Power will be an old school Phoenix Gold M100 (half of the Outlaw) running 4 ohm stereo for about 280 watts per channel @14 volts. This should give me an impressive amount of very low playing bass for anything I need and I can just open the tonneau cover for true IB.
