    Next POSSIBLE victim....

    2004 Chevy Silverado..

Picked it up last night from my Father In Law, he has been banned from having a truck because as a triple bypass patient he has the tendency to do things with trucks he should not. Got it for a great price and it only has 56K miles on it.

Was toying with rebuilding the Dakota but I am selling it as there is no way we can afford it in 2 years when the boy starts driving, and he would probably wrap it around a pole anyway. This thing is lucky to get out of it's own way.

    Needs: Tint and a hitch

I think GM used foam surround speakers, I was not going to touch it and live with the AM (AND FM) radio but it's rattling bad and one door speaker is completely non-functional for anything other than a percussion instrument.

Install goals are stupid simple. I'm thinking about actually pulling the JL wedge enclosure out of the dakota, buying a great set of coaxials, a tiny 4 ch amp and a headunit without a CD player... and being done.

The FIL will still probably drive it so I can't go wild, Although I thought about doing my first horn rig. I may even put a Ned switch in it that disables the bigger audio and turns on his rear left speaker that he likes so much.

Those door panels are super easy to remove. Pop off the sail panel and the trim around the lever, remove 3 screws and a push pin, then pull the panel straight up. Coax can sound pretty decent in them. I've put them in 2 of the inlaws' trucks and was surprised at the results.

I will say this, on my Avalanche (same bits and pieces), my A-pillars both broke with minimal effort. Plastic enbrittlement is my guess

Also when I was cleaning my Avalanche after purchase, I broke the kick panels and the sills. Same reason.

Just be careful but as you know, stuff still happens just because of materials.

Prolly less likely in the NE due to a different climate.

I say give it a blow-thru with eight 12's in the bed
