I would stay away from the ps8 right now. Still issues with it

I've had good luck with the mosconi dsp. I don't have one in my system yet, but have installed 2 so far, and they are awesome! I would download each manual and program to see what you like the best as mentioned above.
It all comes down to what features you are looking for.
The ms8 is great for a full 5.1 system and if you have a center driver in the dash. It's good for tune and leave, set and forget use. If you are a tweaker then I would look at another dsp.
    Ask your self these q:
How many channel do I need? Input and output.
What drivers do I plan to use in my system. This will determine how many channels all up you need.
Do I plan to run optical input?
What features do I want? Time alginment, mute each channel seperalty, what slopes do you want? Some dsps are missing the 18db/oct slope, optical input, etc.

If I may throw my hat in the ring . Someone I respect with in the industry pointed me towards Helix DSP . Easy breezy for us to install and also to get an understanding of how it works . It was tuned by the person from whom we purchased it from . Has everything you could possible need to tune a system in detail . It is Bad Azz ..
Check it out , page 11 starts English . Also down load the software .

I'll second the Helix DSP. Been using it since last summer. Great piece. A couple nitpicks with it, but overall the best car audio processor on the market, IMHO.

I think all of them are laptop based. some like the alpine allow you to use a din size controller to tune, but rom what little I've heard it's a pita to do it that way and most would rather use a laptop anyway. the ones that do have a remote like the bit one and mosconi allow you to do a few things like change presets, control volume, etc. but not tune with it.

I kinda wish someone would figure out that there is a huge market for a HU that can interface with a DSP.

You are correct in that statement . What I wish would have happened would be something like the P99 that also could be controlled with a lap top .
We are very pleased with the set up we have right now. Double din cd/dvd and Helix ..

I've been looking into dsp's and soundstreams new harmony DSP looks real nice and while I have no problem using a laptop to tune, I was just staring at their DD HU's (even the cheapest of which) have rear USB and thinking if you could make that DSP controllable by that HU you couldn't take my money fast enough.
