    New Alpine head unit

Hello all, I'm new to the group. I recently purchased an older commuter car and i noticed that it was equipped with a Alpine remote cd changer. (mod#CHM-S563RF) can anyone tell me what head unit i need with it? it currently has the stock Toyota radio in it.

    Re: New Alpine head unit

It sounds like an FM modulated cd changer. as in it broadcasts to the existing FM radio in the truck. it will work universally in this way with any radio that has AM/FM

from Crutchfield: When you decide to upgrade to an Alpine M-Bus changer-controlling receiver (like the CDM-7874 CD or the TDM-7582 cassette receiver), the CHM-S665RF won't become obsolete. You'll be able to direct-connect the changer and control it from the receiver's front panel — the M-Bus control cable is included with this package

If you want to buy an aftermarket radio you would need to find a used Alpine M-bus compatible radio to work with it.
