Alright, so, I have a really bad habit of planning out a setup, then changing it drastically. Then changing it again. And again. You might notice that here.
Hey guys, I have some pretty big plans for the sound system in my car. I drive a 2001 Lincoln Continental, she has 172k miles behind her and still running like a charm. It's an old man car, definitely not the type of car you'd expect to have an aftermarket sound system!
My original system:
HEADUNIT: Soundstream VR764B double DIN touch screen
FRONT DOORS: Kenwood 6.5" speakers on headunit power
REAR DOORS: Kenwood 6x8" speakers on headunit power
SUBWOOFER: American Bass XFL 12" Dual 4 ohm wired at 2 ohms
ENCLOSURE: Beatdown Subwoofer Enclosures-built 4.5 cu. ft. Net volume, kerf ported
AMP: Hifonics BRX1600.1D monoblock class D 1200W@2 ohms, 1600W@1 ohm
FRONT BATTERY: Super Start Platinum AGM battery, 75ah
REAR BATTERY: XS Power D680 AGM battery
WIRING: Cadence 2ga throughout
Planned upgrades:
Sky High 0ga. power and ground runs between batteries and Big 3
American Bass VFL 4480.1D amp, 2200W@1 ohm
Another American Bass XFL 12" Dual 4 ohm wired at 2 ohms
American Bass VFL 150.4 front stage amp
Either Singer, DC Power, or Mechman high output alternator
LOTS of sound deadening. And I mean LOTS
New box, not sure who I'm going to have design and build it yet.
Where I am at as of today, 3/13/14:
American Bass VFL150.1 at 2 ohms, roughly 1200W RMS
Same sub
Same box
Same head unit
Same front battery
Pioneer TS-D series 6.5" coaxials in the front doors, 6x8" coaxials in the rear doors, weatherstripped and whatnot
American Bass VFL150.4 front stage amp
Sky High 1/0 CCA Big 3, 1 positive and one negative run front to back
Sky High 8ga CCA for the VFL150.4
Powerware 150ah, 100lb monster
Toolmaker battery terminals
Toolmaker oversized 1/0 to standard 1/0 inputs
DIYMA front stage RCAs
Same no-name sub RCAs
I know I'm forgetting something...
I have a 230a Singer alternator on order and should be here within a month. Also, currently working on mounting and wiring up a couple voltmeters. Gotta keep an eye on voltages.
