Thread: In the roof?

    In the roof?

I have a 2007 Ford Taurus and would like to splurge a bit on the sound system. I take long road trips, so nice sound would be...well, really nice. I am thinking of putting a console attached to the ceiling between the front seats and running it from front to back. I am going to take down the fabric from the ceiling, spray the ceiling with a good material for acoustics and then replace the original material with styrofoam and a thin carpet or some other fabric. All of this will be about 1.25" thick. The console will be just about the same thickness. I have 2 round speakers (factory) in the doors now. I will replace those, put 2 in the rear doors, put 2" up opposite the side mirrors and then 2 6x9 in the rear deck. Questions: is it possible to put speakers in the console and get good sound? Can I put a sub under the console between the two front seats? I like to listen to many kinds of music - some that would sound wrong without a sub.

Not sure exactly what you mean by console on the ceiling, like the ones in a lot of cars for sunglasses, etc? Just longer?

If so, you'd have to figure out a way to very securly attach this to the roof (probably bolts through the roof or VERY VERY strong magnets, which then might interfere with some other stuff) if you plan to put any amount of weight on it.

Also use melamime for the roof or acoustic thinsulate (not just any thinsulate, needs to be acoustic) material. You can buy some good acoustic thinsulate from https://resonixsoundsolutions.com/

As far as sub, most music would sound wrong missing those lower octaves, at least once you've heard right So definitely incoroprate something to be able to play those lower octaves.

I think it is possible and the best way to do this is to install a dedicated amplifier and then use speaker wire to connect the speakers to the amplifier. This will ensure that the speakers are getting enough power and that the sound is clear and crisp. It is also important to make sure that the speakers are installed, as improper installation can lead to poor sound quality. Additionally, you may want to consider adding a sound dampening material to the console to reduce any reverberation and improve sound quality.Yes, it is also easy to put a subwoofer between the two front seats of a 2007 Ford Taurus. However, due to the limited space between the seats, you will need to make sure that the subwoofer is small enough to fit. Additionally, you will need to ensure that the subwoofer is properly wired and connected to an amplifier, as this will ensure that the subwoofer is getting enough power and that the sound is clear and crisp.
