    Notloudenuf strips.......furniture

Hello new people. This is the kind of content I bring to CAJ. Until I get another car you'll have to put up with home improvement project posts. I've got quite a few of them.

Starting. We have had these end tables since '01. They are nice but were getting a little scratched up.
    Condition before I got started

They had this goofy looking wicker on the sides

To rebuild you have to tear down. I turned my wife loose with the random orbit sander with 60 grit

During this process I also cut down the sides about 1-3/8" to make it fit better between the chair and the wall
    Started staining here

Remember that wicker I showed you? Well here are new drawer fronts I made with birch plywood

Now the clear is going on I used 3 coats

    And that's it.
I'll get a better finished picture with them in place and the new drawer pulls.

    Thanks for looking.

Nice job! Did you have to alter the frame when you cut down the top?

No. I made sure to cut outside of the metal frame so I wouldn’t have to modify it.

We recently acquired a set of 6 Panton/Vitra S chairs, however, they are all covered in drywall dust. They came from the university where he works. 4 of the 6 are scratched to varying extents-mostly on the back where it looks like they rubbed against a table or chair rail. Can anyone recommend how best to clean them? And if the scratches can be removed? I read some furniture and reclining tips here so using Novus & various sandpapers (ranging from 400-1200 grit) is ok?. I'm concerned this will harm the plastic.

I would probably start by cleaning them with soap and water to remove the dust and grime. Start as mild as possible and work your way up if they don't get clean.
Since those chairs are plastic something like Meguiars PlastX may work. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Meguiar-s...olish/16550253
Test it on the bottom or other inconspicuous place to see if it works.
If the PlastX doesn't work you could try some more abrasive polishing compounds to remove the scratches.
