Thread: Un garage à la française

I second Al. I was told when I went to waterproof mine to only use roll on stuff. Drylok is ok but there is better stuff that the specialty retailers use around here for basements

About to try and find out what is going on, last week contacted the guy who is the sort of lead contractor and was told they would be here this week to get the roof complete to the point it is ready for shingles. So far, 9am and nothing, no equipment, no people, nothing.

That has to be frustrating. I feel for you. I hate to tell you I had a garage and driveway installed last year start to finish in two weeks. Please don't use those contracters anymore.

Yeah, it's driving me nuts. At this rate, even with me only able to work a couple hours in the evening and at weekends, while figuring out how to do the work, I feel like it would be more complete than it currently is. I absolutely don't see it being ready for the meet here in September (not that it needs to be ready, would just be nice if my backyard was not quite so much a construction zone). I am hoping that it at least has a roof by then, even if it is still lacking electricity and doors, at least a roof will mean it looks like a garage somewhat.

The roof trusses got moved from the front yard down to the garage itself, barring any issues, they are supposed to start putting them up tomorrow.

Which, with how this has gone so far, means tomorrow will be torrential downpours, storms and high winds.

Also, while realizing they could have just as easily gone the other way, thinking I might need another 8 sheets of OSB, I checked the price just now.

    $17.85.

    Fuck you economy.

Paid $42 each when I ordered the ones I have, should have gone with some Kanban JIT! Honestly though, I'm not that annoyed over it, they could have just as easily gone up. It sucks, but nothing I can do about it.
