    HST-15 Enclosure Size

I just picked up an HST-15 this past week and I'm trying to design my box. I want to tune it to 28hz and I have enough room for a 6 cu. ft. enclosure (6ft NET, 7.5ft Total). The dimensions would be 37"L x 18"W x 23.5"H. The SI website says 50 inches of port area, so the port would be 3" x 16.5". My question is will this box be too big? Do I need to adjust my port size? I am mainly wanting low tuned SPL out of this.

From SI site : Vented enclosure: 3.0 ft^3 tuned to 20 Hz. >50 in^2 of port surface area

P.S. SI is having a huge sale on HST's.... only $8,999.99 to $9,999.99!!

    Re: HST-15 Enclosure Size

The recommended 3 ft^3 at 20 Hz in WinISD looks ideal for flat response and maximum extension. <edit> 8" port tube (50.27 in^2) at 2kw = 20.7 m/s at 19 Hz. Vent length is a whopping 106.6"

6 ft^3 at 28 Hz looks peaky as hell (+7.4 dB at 29.4 Hz). 124.3 dB at 29.4 Hz. Tuning higher will increase SPL further (and vice versa). Same goes for box size (larger = higher SPL. Only ~2 dB more at 12 ft^3 though)).

    An 8" port tube (50.27 in^2) at 2kw = 39 m/s peak at 28 Hz. More port area = less compression = higher SPL <edit> vent length 22.8"

    A pair of 8" port tubes (100.53 in^2) = 19.5 m/s peak (17 - 22 m/s is said to be ideal). <edit> vent length is a whopping 100.5"

They are $1000 usually, must be a pricing issue with the website and someone added an extra 9.

It’s likely supply issues and no stock, so they don’t want the orders to come in like eBay do to prevent taking adverts off
