Curious how this finishes. I have a light upgrade to my 2015 F350. Bummer that we have to keep the Sony amp though. I have a new ride on order and will be doing a slow build as well. 2021 Jeep Trackhawk in the mfg build process now. Already been waiting 2 months with the chip shortage. Great work so far.

Sorry for the multiple pics and orientation. Don’t know what happened. Well I took my truck to a supposedly reputable local shop for tweeter sails and mid bass kicks. When I went to have the tune done the kicks were dead. No response. I started doing a little research and they were never going to work. Sealed enclosure requirements were almost as large as my sub enclosure. Other than that I would have to go IB. Me being a noob I figured the shop would check all that out first. I can’t install them in my doors without sheet metal removal. The 7.1 HATs would have to go so it’s back to the drawing board. One of the sails had a few wrinkles in the vinyl as well.

So after doing my due diligence on picking a new mid bass I chose to go with these. AND they will fit perfectly in my doors as opposed to kicks.

So now I just need to install my new mid bass AF'sin my doors and then do something with my mid range.

Not having a great experience with the local audio shop that did the kicks and tweeter sails I decided to look for another fabricator. I can do a lot. Wiring, sub enclosure, amp rack, etc. but I am no expert with fiberglass or vinyl. I found a local guy by word of mouth named Keith Payne. I reached out to him and we had a few discussions over several weeks ( I was out of town working at the time) and he wanted to see the truck and talk about what i wanted to achieve. This guy is a true craftsman. I told him my vision for the midrange drivers and he also pointed to a few issues with the tweeter sails. He also mounted my Frogs for me while things dried. Frogs first.


Next are the mid range. I saw a car Scott Buwalda built and he have these A pillars that were super clean, no grills, and drivers mounted from the rear. I knew thats what I wanted. Keith did not disappoint.

Here is the finished product. I really, really like them. Next, the tweeter sails.

So now the tweeters. After Keith inspected them it wasn't just the vinyl. The entire process was flawed. The sails were never sanded so the filler didn't stick. Holes were drilled but the filler was never forced into the holes. Total crap show. Both sails had to be stripped and completely redone. Pics of the un-prepped sails and new filler drying. Also during all of this I swapped the TWK-88 for a Helix DSP.3 I also started the Helix with a URC.3 remote then changed my mind and bought a Conductor. I have it hooked up but not mounted yet. The thing takes a 40mm hole which is a little over 1.5" so I have to order a metric step bit for it.

So thats where we stand as of today. Hopefully have the tweeters in tomorrow and the Conductor mounted on Tuesday. Then all that is left is the tune. I will take final pics of everything once its done.
