Looks like the original spirit of Nakamichi isn't so dead after all.

I'm sure you guys have probably noticed I'm a bit of a Nakamichi fan, which is why it kinda hurts to see to see some of the really cheap shit that get the Nak badge thrown on it these days but with that being said it looks like Nakamichi is going through a bit of a metamorphosis. I recently found their new home page and started browsing their mobile audio offerings and found among the average looking stuff some real solid looking stuff. Stuff I wouldn't expect to see from a schlock brand.

A very nice looking 6.5" point source driver: The NC-H602

a wide array of very small class D amps with built in DSP: The DAG Series

They even have an 8 channel in the series which is 4 ohm bridgeable for 160wpc

They also seem to have some decent HU available as well

like the NA1550 which has a 11 band EQ and Time Alignment as well as HPF and LPF filters and is cheaper than most of it's competiton

and if you're someone like me that just needs a simple but elegant looking DD HU the NA788 isn't a bad fit.

even their regular single Din head units look pretty stylish and sport 6-channel 5V pre out.

Looks like Techtronics and a few ebay sellers are selling new Nak stuff but I haven't seen any of the above stuff show up anywhere yet. Though I think that may be because they are just starting to focus on the US market again and most of these products are new for 2014 so they may just be entering production.

If they do start appearing state side a DAG-8 or 6 will be going into my second car.

Nice looking stuff. I really like those head units. Attractive but not gaudy...exactly what I would want. Wish I could get the double din...but dodge only goes 3/4 of the way with their decks...like most things dodge.

Wow. I may pick up that DD headunit if it gets sold here and the price
Is right. Looks great. Almost OEM with the dual knobs.

I was thinking the same thing Erin. In fact, the 8 channel amp with dsp looks like an oem solution.

Techronics ebay store is selling it's bigger brother the NA1650 for $260 with free shipping. Which is about $100-150 less that a comparable model from Pioneer or Alpine.
