Sundown SA v.3 8" Subwoofer Box Build

I'll be installing a little budget build setup for a friend of mine. Deck, factory speaker replacements, and an 8 inch Sundown SA v.3 subwoofer. It will be powered by a little Pioneer GM-D8701 giving it 800rms @ 1ohm. More than enough for my guy to impress his two little boys. Plus they are both dependable brands that has him in for less than $500 CDN. It should sound great!

The box is 0.65 cubes tuned to 35 hz (recommended specs). 3/4" birch, with a Speak-on connector. He asked for it to be occasionally removable and have some flexibility with installation. Thus the feet on both ends can work as feet or stops in the back of his truck. We hummed and hawed but I think this will provide him with what he is looking for.

Originally, I had spent three days painting this box Toronto Maple Leaf blue with white stripes. It looked incredible, high gloss and raised stripes. Than I went ahead and knocked it off the drying rack yesterday and completely cooked the paint. Fuck, LOL. So, he's getting a black and white special with materials I had laying around. Haha. Fuck him, he's a leafs fan.

    Thanks for checking it out!

Nice work. That would make for a cool little Home Theater Sub

That's a nice little enclosure! Good call on the speakon connector if he needs to remove it periodically.

Let us know how that 8 does, looks pretty beefy.

I love how the universe said NO to the Toronto Maple Leaf livery lol

Thanks GP. I didn't fight it too hard. In fact, I like to think I avoided putting a curse on the Canucks, by accidently destroying the paint. Lol.

I'll definitely let you folks know how she sound when its all fired up. We didn't quite get it all done today, but he'll be full volume by noon tomorrow. I've just got to fix a few "installed at Visions" issues and we'll be laughing.

That is awesome! There is definitely something about a ported 8" sub, especially in the house.
    Are you not entertained?!?!

    Very nice!

I ported a pair of Skar IX-8s for my driving sim setup, and while I am impressed with the result, I'd trade ten of those for one of these.

    Looking forward to your impressions.
