In 2019 I was lucky enough to be in the market for something fun and my favorite car in the world is the Ferrari 550 Maranello. It may have had something to do with Mike Lowrey’s Grigio Titanio 550 on Bad Boys II. I found one in SoCal for an incredible deal because of the aftermarket wheels and stereo, two things I actually loved. The system was pretty cool for being 20 years old. It originally had an Alpine F#1 Status HU, DSP, and DVD changer, but those had been replaced with a very antiquated Pioneer flip-out screen from 10 years ago. I wish they had left the Alpine gear! But after that it got better with a McIntosh MCC406M 6 channel amp, Velodyne DF12SC sub in a custom fiberglass enclosure in the trunk (but missing the servo controller), and Brax Graphic Pro components in custom fiberglass kickpanels paint-matched to the interior. I haven't had this much fun with a car before, and I've been averaging 1000 miles per month since taking delivery in June of 2019. I've made a lot of updates to the stereo as well.
I know a few of you have been around a while and may have seen this car before. The car has an Alumapro Capacitors emblem on the amp rack, and there was a 5 farad Alumapro cap in the trunk. It has been a while, but I seem to remember seeing this car in a magazine a very long time ago. Below are some pics that I am hoping will help someone recognize the car. I would love to speak to someone who knows more about the car and possibly has photos of it from way back then, as well as any stories behind the system. Thanks for reading and feel free to message me directly if you prefer.
