    02 tahoe setup ideas

So I have a 2002 Tahoe and everything is stock. I have had a few different stereo setups in the past but not sure what I should put in the tahoe. I want to change the door speakers and add a bass package. I want 2 amps. 1 for the doors and 1 for the subwoofer. I have read about the different types of wiring such as 4 ohm to 1 ohm. Im looking for something with more clarity than bass but still want something that hits hard. The doors have four 6 1/2s and four 1 inch tweeters. Anyone have a good idea for me. Not looking for the most expensive system. Best bang for the buck.

    Thanks

I threw that.together in 5 minutes so it lacks nuance. I think that would slaughter as a daily. I can vouch for those reference 7s being official as drivers. Clear and plenty loud.

I'm guessing Kenwood or Pioneer for the source. Can't go wrong

Wiring....check out sky high car audio. Always go ofc (oxygen free copper) 2 gauge for power to the subs....16 gauge or 14 gauge to the speakers I presume. Get some good RCAs for signal. I've used Focal in the past and they did wonderful for not a ton of money

In my 2004 Tahoe I had several setups. I wouldn't even worry about the rear doors (or maybe run them off deck power). If I did it over and was looking at pure value I would go with something like this...

...obviously head unit is missing, but there are so many options its hard to suggest one in particular. Good luck with your build.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I was just looking at the dual pods. Im thinking of installing 4 door speakers in the front and 2 in the rear. I just installed the head unit. I got the alpine UTE.
Did you wire your subs in series or parallel?

    Re: 02 tahoe setup ideas

My subs were 12 inch pioneers with single 4 ohm voice coils. i wired them in parallel with a result of 2 ohms. good site for parallel and series explanation and calculators here = http://www.bcae1.com/spkrmlti.htm

Would 2 ohms or 1ohms sound better?

    Re: 02 tahoe setup ideas

I found this response online and I think it answers your question. Keep in mind "better" is subjective. to some people better could mean louder or a variety of things.

    https://www.caraudio.com/threads/dif...2%20%2D%20ohms.

1 ohm or two ohm makes absolutely no difference, it simply depends on what load the amplifier was designed for, what the amp circuits were optimized for. Everything else being equal, an amp built for and running in 1 - ohm will behave exactly the same as an amp designed for and running in 2 - ohms.

If there was one optimum ohm load for for all amps to be run at, all amps would be built the same.

Simply buy an amp that is optimized for the load you will run it in - or the reverse - chose your speaker ohm load to fit the amp.
