Nice job, man. Our builds have a few things in common...

As they should, I stole some of your ide... errrr, I mean, I was inspired by your build.

Seriously though... thanks for sharing so much of your build on here. It really was helpful and gave me a lot of good ideas for my build.

I didn't get much time tweaking the DSP before I went out playing in the sand dunes this past weekend, and I may have cranked the volume a little more than I should have. My Hertz 3.5" co-axials in the dash now sound like they have sand in them. I'm sure that I sent them way too much power and burned up the voice coils a bit. Oops.

Now I'm thinking that I need to invest in some decent 3-ways up front. I saw that you went with the Morel drivers... have you been happy with them? I looked at the Focal Flax series 3-ways for about $700 for the set, and the Hertz Mille Pro series for $780... but I haven't listened to any of them, so dropping that kind of coin for something I haven't listened to doesn't seem to sit right with me. A set of active Frogs might be nice, too... and at least I've heard them once or twice to know they sound decent. Thoughts?

I think I might need to also install the aperiodic vent like you did on the front pods... while I deadened them and lined them with some Rammatt, they still seem a bit "shallow" in some ways. Might also be a good time to reinforce the front mounting plate with some wood like you did... I'm sure that plastic is resonating a bit under there.

One thing that I'll need to address eventually is the rear amplifier location... specifically some venting. The amps get warm, and thankfully they have not shut down while operating, but I think that some ventilation would do it some good. My father in law and I were looking at the cover that goes over the cargo area and he mentioned that it might be cool to try and mimic the Jeep grill into a new cover. The seven openings of the grill could be covered in perforated metal/speaker grill type material, as well as the headlights... maybe even use some 4" fans where the headlights would be to force air into the cargo compartment and allow the heat to rise out of the 'grill' area. I'll have to invest in an actual router table if I'm going to do that... I doubt that I could use a hand held and get the results I want for that.

    Mark

The Morel's I am using sound really good and can handle lots of power and abuse (I give them a fair dose of both)... It sounds like your build might have a second wave!

Thanks! I've been looking at some drivers to make my own 3-way setup... I'll post up once I start making some progress on it.
