'16 VW Golf R - Morel Elate and Zapco Z-series

Some of you may have seen my build log of this install on another site, so I wanted to use this one to pare down some of the earlier equipment/install versions and just start with the finished product (along with some limited installation/fabrication pics and commentary).

The car: 2016 VW Golf R 6-speed- my daily driver, acquired it a little over 2 years ago, pre-owned with low miles and bone stock. I added VMR 18x8.5 wheels with a more aggressive offset, a Neuspeed piggy-back tuner for some extra power and a Boomba short-shift kit in the first few months. These were followed by an R400-style front fascia (after striking a piece of tire on the interstate and damaging the OEM clip), and more recently by a Black Forest Industries shift knob and a larger 8" glass infotainment monitor.

Amp rack pics

All Zapco: Z-150.2II powering the Morel 6.5" midbass in each door, Z-150.6 powering tweeters and midranges fully active, with the remaining 2 channels bridged to the JL Audio 8W3V3-4. Processing provided by the Zapco DSP Z8-IV II. All mounted to 1/4" ABS that's secured to the trunk floor with nutserts and bolts. The amp rack was constructed to allow room for a factory spare tire.
