Upgrade to Helix V Eight?

Hey all,

I currently have a helix p six dsp/amp that puts out 120 watts into 4 ohms. It powers the GS25 and Peerless SLS 6”.

I love it but I’m really thinking of trying a two seat tune with a center channel and am thinking of moving to the helix V eight which has more channels and all the fancy new processing of the ACO processor so I could do a center channel.

It puts out 75 watts into 4 ohms.

I think my one concern is if the 75 watts will be enough to drive the peerless. They are rated at 75 watts RMS but have a sensitivity of 82.

Am I going to miss the 120 watts of the p six if I switch to the 75 watts of the V eight?

Anyone with experience with installing the helix V eight? Skiz? Anyone?

Not too much of a realistic difference, but there will be some. If you're by any chance already on the fence about not having enough output with the P SIX, then maybe the v8 might not be a great idea and instead do a standard helix dsp with separate amps.

Side note, make sure you have your gain structure set properly before you dont think you have enough power. You'd be surprised what 75 watts can do. Its just that those peerless are very inefficient

Rumor has it there is a P Six MK3 coming out soon that will have the newest DSP.

I'm in the process of installing a V Eight now. I'm going to be using MW182 midbass drivers. I'll let you know how it goes.

Now only if I had that ResoNix order...

I'm not sure about timeline. You could contact Doug at MSC America to find out. Either that, or there are a few Helix dealers wandering around here that might know.

It's been "around the corner" for a year and a half or so now

But from seeing an overview from early 2019 about the release schedule of AF products, it was next on the list after the DSP Ultra. Waiting for it myself, recently sold my mk2 (to someone who needed one THAT DAY and couldn't wait 2 days for shipping), and I'm sure if I get another mk2, the mk3 will be available the week after

mk3 wont be out for at least a few months based on a convo i had with Doug. Then again, my memory might be fuzzy and that might be a different product. Idk, but i don't think its anytime very soon
