There's a lot more production cost involved in casting/machining as opposed to stamping. Stamped steel is strong enough. Nothing 'bad' about it. But it has design limitations. Steel and aluminum don't dissipate heat the same way. Cast aluminum holds an advantage there. Steel is more prone to corrosion. When aluminum corrodes, it sort of makes a protective scab. Details, yeah, but if I'm paying premium coin for a driver, I want premium everything.
These are GS speakers, not GB, so my hope is that they will cost a bit less than the GB60’s.

Just pointing out here that I've never heard anyone complain about the stamped steel basket on the Dynaudio MW182.
Yeah, honestly, I'd rather have a lower cost speaker with a "stamped steel" basket than the same speaker with an increased price just because it has a "cast" basket (Aluminum, ABS or whatever material). It just seems like it would add cost for no significant "gain"...
Then again, some people are into how the stuff "looks" - so maybe that is important to some people (although, an 8" midbass speaker probably won't be visible).
