Thread: Justin Zazzi's tuning companion for room eq wizard

Re: Justin Zazzi's tuning companion for room eq wizard

Just to confirm (because I'm a noob), the crossovers in the house curve tab, are just to get the house curve profile. In my DSP I will have different numerical values for the crossovers... and then I keep testing (RTA?, MMM (moving microphone method?), and moving the crossovers to get them as close to the house curve as possible, before doing PEQ adjustments?

Sort of on topic, am I using normal full band pink noise, or sweeps? I watched a REW tutorial, and he was running sweeps from REW through his computer speakers, but I'm not sure how I could do that through car speakers, and a pink noise track on usb seems easier.

    Thanks for this amazing tool!

Yes, that way seems to be good and repeatable. Justin and I use MMM with periodic pink noise. I have REW generate this in the generate tab and make sure my RTA window is set to the same FFT (that is what it is labeled) length.

See above, Pink Periodic Noise to tune with is the best. If not that then Pink Mono Noise. Periodic just allows the RTA window to settle down much quicker. You can use REW to export the Pink Periodic Noise to a wav file and then put that on a flash drive.

Sweeps are good to get other information, but if you are a noob, don't worry about that until you get the above done.

Is there anyway we could make this a free option? The only way to use this is through Excel which isn't free and has a monthly or yearly subscription.

The macros don't work in any free alternative

Not a chance, I've already tried, quite a while ago.
Just go ahead and buy the most basic version of MS Office that you can find, the one time purchase kind, you'll use it for other stuff eventually.
Or hunt down an MS Office/OpenOffice/LibreOffice guru and have it translated/ported to the free format.

I've also tried. Three different people started porting it to various free programs but we didn't finish. I'm not sure why, maybe because the pay was really low.

Y'all are welcome to try and I will absolutely support any way I can.

Also, there are non-subscription options for basic office. I will never pay a software subscription ever, so I feel your pain.

You could provide a compiled version of the spreadsheet via Ecell Compiler. https://xcellcompiler.com/
    SYNC3 headunit
    Mosconi Pico 8/10 DSP
    Mosconi D2 500.1
    Gladen Zero Pro 165.3 DC
JL Audio 10w3v3 in custom enclosure (Blueprint by Mark @Caraudiofabrication)

I don't remember what MS Office cost (<$150), but it was worth it just to use all of the various audio specific spreadsheets available.
And no, I won't pay a subscription either, it's a one-time purchase or nothing for me.

Google Sheets is one way, but I would need a javascript programmer to port the VBA code. It's not complex, mostly just creating a text file.

OfficeLibre and OpenOffice seem to have some VBA script support, but I have not looked at it. It might be fairly simple to port it to those, although a little time consuming.

If anyone wants to try, let me know and I'll give you an unlocked version of the sheet and a plain text copy of the VBA script so you can explore and see how much work it might be.
