Central/North AL Fall GTG Saturday, October 10, 2020

BigAl's Fifth Annual Big Birthday Bash!

I normally hold this in November, but the Kung-flu Hustle has messed with everybody's plans, and Jason Berthlomey (Afghan Vet) is having his big meet on 11/6. So, instead of celebrating my birthday, we're going to honor my good friend Glenn's big day, which is Oct 1. I realize this might interfere with the competition season, but we'll see how things pan out...

I would like to invite everyone over to listen to some cool audio systems, and hang out and cut up with your friends. We will probably also have a pre-meet and tuning session the night before.

The place: My house in Hayden, AL (about 25 miles north of Birmingham)
    The date: Saturday, October 10
    The time: 9AM to 9PM

    Optional things to bring:
    - your favorite demo music
    - a folding chair
    - a camera
    - Tools and tuning equipment
    - a friend
    - a canopy

I hope to see you there!

I'd go a different way to and from between Al's house and ATL just because. I hate the fact I have to go through Memphis to go just about anywhere east of the Mississippi
They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

Ashville it is... last year with all the roadwork, I think we wound up in Illinois trying to get to your place

I'm currently in possession of some killer floorstanding speakers from Revel as well as the Selah Audio Purezza bookshelf speakers. I don't know if I want to try to cram the Revels in the car but the Purezzas should fit pretty easily. If you guys are interested, I can bring them with me and we can set them up for demo. But only if you guys think you'll actually demo them. I don't wanna lug them down there if they're just gonna sit on some stands and not be listened to. Not my speakers so my feeling won't be hurt. Just LMK.

I have a Crown XLS1002 I can bring to power them. But we'll need a source (cd player, etc).

Man both pairs of speakers look delicious especially those towers. If you bring one or both pairs I'd love to spend some time with them.

Erin, if you need me to, I could come get some equipment in my truck

That might be a good idea.

Let me see what everyone in here says. I'm really a bit gun-shy on the Revels just because of their size. But I can easily bring the Purezza (assuming I can get Rick's OK to do so).

How's the back been feeling lately? Those Revels look like they weigh a ton.

Seriously, testing those speakers wrecked me. You can't imagine what I've gone through to properly test those things.

While I'd love to hear those Revels, I can't afford them so I'll live vicariously through your description
