Thread: Choosing a budget 2 channel for tweeter duty.

Choosing a budget 2 channel for tweeter duty.

I have a list of 2 channel budget amps. I need one for tweeters in my active 3 way build. Which have the best SQ? Lowest distortion. Clean sounding?

I don’t care what brand they are or how they look.

I have a mix match set as it is. I went for bang for the buck. SoundQubed S4-100. Pioneer GM-D8601. Both are still new.

    Drivers are

Midbass is Audible Physics 6.25PP, 65w.

Midrange hasn’t been bought yet. Leaning towards CDT CL-4SL, 50w.

Tweeter hasn’t been bought yet. Leaning towards Dayton Audio AN25F-4, 40w

    Here are the amps.

These can all be had for less that $75 new.

    I’m on a tight budget.

I think the Sony is in the lead for me with its higher signal to noise ratio, but what do you guys think?

In my opinion you could probably pick any one of those and not hear much of a difference.

I'd go with the Sony or the Kenwood. Another good option that I can guarantee will sound really good for the money is the Zapco ST-2x.
They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

I generally share this opinion too.
Measure with mics, mark with chalk, cut with torch, grind to fit, sand to finish, paint to match.
Updated Justin tuning sheet (Justin and Erica tuning companion for SMAART and REW)
    Do it for them.

Is the Zapco ST-2B worth a look? They are $99.

Barbara Ann was too big. The site had wrong dimensions. I sent it back and got a Lisa.

Watch out with Amazon right now. A lot do cheap China crap and counterfeit stuff sold on Amazon. I’ve stopped buying some things (not audio related) from Amazon because of this. Recently purchased 3 temporal thermometers from Amazon and two of them are already crap. You’re better off buying name brand stuff from authorized retailers.
