I’m upgrading my 2000 Land Cruiser 100 series audio and the first item I purchased was a Kenwood DDX9905S at a reasonable price since there is a newer model available.
I am planning on looking for a small amplifier with built in DSP to fit under the passenger seat but in reading the specs, it seems the 9905 has some basic DSP capabilities. Before I purchase an amp and speakers, hopefully used, I thought I would at least pose the question. Passive or active is still undecided and I will still get an external amp, just curious if I can get by with one without a DSP.
Is the DSP good enough to get a decent tune in my Land Cruiser? I plan on 6 to 6 ½ inch speakers in the lower doors and a small tweeter in the sails. There is a bit of distance between the speakers but I’m not sure it makes sense to go three way and add a custom speaker location in a 20-year-old car that is also our third car. At the same time I'm not concerned with cutting into the door skin. I’m undecided if I will upgrade the rear door but if I do it would be a coaxial.
Thanks
