@JCsAudio - any chance Kenwood provides enough parameters to see how the Kenwood Excelon speaker stacks up to the others? I'm kind of curious (don't know anything about how to interpret these values or create the graphs that you do!)...

Here are the T/S specs that Kenwood provides:

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, I can run a simulation on those too. I was thinking to stay with car audio specific drivers anyway so this is a good option. Harmon and Alpine might have some too.

c5's would be sweet. what about even the gs60? still plenty of xmax for good midbass, and i can vouch for them sounding good. FR is similar to the gs690s.

Yes, Those are also going to be simulated as I was just thinking of it you posted them as an option. Man, too bad the GB60 are too expensive. I will never change mine.

Those Kenwoods perform well. The AF GS60 also perform well but dont quit have the same low end as the AF GS690.

Some interesting and also surprising results there ^^^

Very cool to see some of the not so common or perhaps, "popular" options performing well.
    Are you not entertained?!?!

I’m not really surprised there. I’ve run a lot of drivers now and even stock Ford woofers and I was surprised by how well those actually performed when I put a proper HP on them.

What these simulations don’t tell us is how they actually sound, just spl and cone excursion.

Re: HAT Unity shallow 6x9 vs Stevens mb6

I might have to put the gs60 back on the short list of possibilities. The higher qtc should in theory give it more punch IB. The gs690 is a whole different animal in comparison so no surprise on the results there. And all of these except for the Scan I'm currently running are designed to have a fighting chance in a steamy car door. Basically what I replace these scans with will be in my doors until it's time to kick the truck to a new owner. 90k on the clock is the goal with mostly short trips (most less than 10 miles and only 5 miles each way to work) which are hell on a vehicle so 5-6 years from now. This thread should help a lot of people when it comes to comparing speakers in a leaky door. Thanks for your time and effort JC
They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

Just saw the misplaced cone displacement post in bnae's thread. Yeah now you see why I wanna get something that won't get all floppy in my big truck doors, lol.

No problem Hillbilly, I’m just returning a favor.

Hey, what happened to the cone excursion graph I thought I posted? I guess I’ll have to repost that later.

Edit, found it so here it is.

with a HP of 80 Hz the Scan should actually be fine.
