Wow! You guys just brought back all kinds of memories. I was Googling myself (because, why not) and came across this article/forum.
I haven't seen this in over 20 years. I was 22 back then and am now 50 lol! Ah those days were such good times...

I actually stayed in Car Audio professionally for many years after this. I worked for several high end shops then eventually went corporate.
I spent 11 good years at Alpine Electronics of America at their US HQ in Torrance CA. Some of the best times of my life. I have so many stories especially around CES time.
    Its a different world now...

I got tired of the corporate world and decided to start my own company. I'm a Technology Contractor in Southern Cal. We started with Home but focus on Commercial Business these days.
Simply put, we go into businesses (restaurants, stores, hotels and such) and run cabling for Technology. We then instal the IT Infrastructure (Rack, WiFi, Data, Surveillance and such) and manage it sometimes.
Its fun but not as rewarding as seeing clients faces once they've heard their Audio System for the first time like back in the day...
