Best 6 channel SQ amp options

Recommendations? Doesn't need to be over 100 watts/channel.

Preferably under $1000 but I'll save up for the right amp.

    Space limitations?

Hard to beat the mmats 6150 at that price if you want class d

Cheaper option would be the Audio Control LC-6.1200

Re: Best 6 channel SQ amp options

Personally, when looking for a 6-channel amp, I ended up going with a JL Audio XD600/6v2 and have been very happy with it. It's only 75W RMS x 6 (@4 ohms), but it does a really good job in my vehicle (will play louder than I will ever want/need). I was originally going to go with the AudioControl LC-6.1200 (less money for about twice the power), but didn't like the fact that you couldn't defeat the crossovers on all channels. In the end, since I was going to be running active, I just didn't need all of the options/controls built into the LC-6.1200 - and actually preferred NOT to have them as it just adds more (undefeatable) circuitry, which can add noise and complexity.

It my case, I wanted 6 channels to power 2 x 3.5" coaxial dash speakers, 2 x 6x9 door midbass speakers and 2 x 6.5" rear-deck speakers. I just use a self-contained under-seat sub (JBL BassPro SL), so I didn't need any amp channels for my "sub".

I have been VERY happy with the JL Audio amp. You pay more for JL Audio stuff, but their amps are built like tanks, have no fans and are very well regarded. They also have features like differential balance inputs (helps avoid noise issues) and a "power rollback" system which virtually avoids amp "shutdown" situations (will rollback power until the amp cools off and you most likely won't even notice the difference while it's in this "rollback" state).

I've driven the amp hard in the middle of summer with the amp fully enclosed in a very small space (under a "trap door" in my trunk) and the amp never even gets more than warm.

In my opinion, you'd be hard-pressed to hear a sound-quality difference between any modern class-d amp. I'd rather put more money towards higher-quality/more functional DSP's and/or speakers than amps.

Re: Best 6 channel SQ amp options

I’ve always liked using JL XDv2 or VXi 800/8 used as a staggered six channel
with bridged power for mid bass.

But the 6150D Mmats will just have more oomph to handle the dynamics peaks at louder volumes.

I agree with jtrosky with $ being better spent on DSP or Speakers.
