If Biden hadn't been running, then Trump asking Zelensky about corruption wouldn't have been a big deal. But since Biden was talked into running (two days after Zelensky's election), then any talk of corruption investigation would intentionally be misconstrued as "digging up dirt on the opponent".

If Trump were concerned with corruption on international scales, we'd be hearing about election security; he'd be on about Russia the way he's on about Biden. Just because you want it to be true doesn't mean that it is. Trump released the aid before the deadline expired, and Zelensky never promised anything. If fact, he says that he never felt pressure to do so. You can stand there, tap your ruby slippers together and repeat "Please be an impeachable offense...Please be an impeachable offense..."

What did the previous administration do about it? If they thought the Russians were interfering, why didn't they do something about it...or at least bring it to light? Why didn't they tell Trump they suspected Carter Page was having questionable contact with Russians? I hate to have to keep reminding you, but not everyone who dislikes Trump is a liberal. I will vote with them in the next presidential election, but only as a vote against Trump. I personally think it's moronic to chain yourself to a party.

Trump was not being investigated for investigating corruption. Maybe that's what Faux Noise tells you, but he was investigated and impeached for holding up already promised funds in exchange for investigating a leading political rival. If he were really concerned about corruption, would he have commuted the sentence of Rod Blagojevich? Rod if you will remember was also impeached for almost exactly the same thing Trump was. I guess he felt a kindred spirit there. I guess that's what he meant by draining the swamp - releasing his kind of people from prison. But unlike the hyperpartisan Congress in Trump's case, the Illinois legislature voted almost unanimously to remove and prosecute him. That's how much Trump cares about corruption.

I don't really understand celebrating putting the smack down on reporters. The press is almost the only thing keeping people like Trump & co in check. He constantly attacks the press because they constantly expose him for the factless overgrown windbag that he really is.

Not to say that I've personally grown any sweeter on Biden. The more I learn about him, the more I dislike him. But if you believe Trump was conducting a non-political investigation into corruption there I have a space station I'd like to sell you.
