    2013 Kia Sorento

I don't have as many pictures of this build, but it is my wife's SUV. Much less involved than my truck.

    Equipment:
    Factory HU
    Speedwire
    Dayton DSP 408
    Alpine PDR-V75
Image Dynamics XS 65 2 way set
Pioneer TS-SWX2502 sub (soon to be my 10" JL TW3 when my MKV's come in)
Resonix CLD on front doors only
    Thinsulate on front doors only

Full sound deadening log can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1P-...nDeTEDQo8t8npQ

Got my wife's suv mostly done. Still need to tune it but so far I am liking the Dayton DSP-408. Need to add some more delay to the remote out amp turn on but looks like I may need to buy a time delay relay to accomplish that.

    Re: 2013 Kia Sorento

Did a little bit of work to the kia this weekend. It received a new engine about 7,000 miles ago for the manufacturing defect (so free to us). Due to that and the car still being in really good shape, I am doing a little work on it. I got new floor mats (weathtec), got window visor covers to crack the window, got the interior detailed and cleaned, and now installed a new head unit to replace the old piece of crap UVO by microsoft.

This was a process because the 2013 kia sorento information isn't for the uvo system, they have info for the non uvo, or uvo with amplififier, but we just have uvo no amp.

So I had to go to kia tech info and do the 72hour access to gain access to the wiring diagrams. This was also another point of frustration as every other harness connector has the easy to read pinout diagrams for the connector. The uvo does not, so I had to create my own!

I used that site to make my own pinout since I couldn't find one. It appears nearly identical to the 2014 kia sorento pinouts too. I tried to make the pinouts semi professional looking via a picture and table design.

What it looked like as a factory system

UVO WAS TERRIBLE! It would take a couple of minutes for my phone to connect via bluetooth and longer to connect via usb. Then the usb would disconnect every few minutes. I think it was the circuit board design for the usb/aux port.

This doesn't even get to the main point of why it was terrible...all digital connections (aux, usb, bluetooth) were factory time aligned via the head unit. BUT, the radio (fm or am) and phone calls were not! so you could only time align to one or the other, not both!

SO that junk was removed after 10 years of putting up with trash

    Re: 2013 Kia Sorento

Got the new radio installed. Here is what I used

    Idatalink Maestro RR
, Idataline Maestro hk1 harness, Kenwood DMX-957xr, Metra Dash kit

I was told the hk1 harness would not be compatible with this 2013 model year. It works flawlessly so far. I retained everything including the backup camera. I installed it exactly the same way as a 2014 kia sorento without amplifier. I even flashed the maestro rr with 2014 kia sorento information since there isn't any for 2013.

    Here is the after

I also added a front camera to the install. The kenwood allows for up to 4 camera inputs. The maestro allows the factory backup to be retained (no backup lines, but the kenwood HU added those back) and to control the front camera turning on and off at certain speeds (under 7mph on, over 12mph off are my current settings)

    Re: 2013 Kia Sorento

I did try to use the idatalink maestro uhk1 - usb adapter to retain the factory usb and aux input. The factory did a weird thing and put a little circuit board there that then is like a little DAC for the aux and transmits the usb or aux to the head unit. So this was to replace that circuit board, well that didn't work out. I kept getting usb errors everytime I used it.

Cool Idea though and idatalink says it depends on the head unit if it works or not...... You would think the kenwood dmx957xr being the top of the line and would work.

    Re: 2013 Kia Sorento

I will be most likey gutting the factory usb/aux port and doing this:
    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...BQWBUOYQ&psc=1
    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...4PPMJPL8&psc=1

This car also has a slightly different sub than what was in the picture. It has the jl tw3 that came out of my truck when I upgraded to dual 12" stereo integrity bm mkv's.

I also installed the dayton dsp 408 remote while running wires. Not sure if I will keep it or not...it is unfortunately one that is creating noise. I will try to remedy this later by re-running the wire some place else and see if it fixes the noise issue. I did run it right next to the rca run, and I have heard bad things about doing this (after getting it installed, then reading why I have noise). I will try some other way I suppose.

    Re: 2013 Kia Sorento

This was how I installed the maestro unit. I did properly tap the obd port, since it doesn't have space to connect anything without having a cover exposing the fuse panel off.

This is great!!!! I find the general lack of knowledge on Kia forums about aftermarket audio disturbing.
