    Eric Clapton unplugged

Diana Krall "The girl in the other room"
    Diana Krall "Live in Paris"
Piano ,plus woodwinds, plus Standup bass

    Steely Dan
    Carly Simon "Reflections"

These are loaded with sound beneath or sub 80 hz content.
    Play them !

I dont even go anyway to understanding your response, it’s a very valid way to see what you’d be missing at under 80hz, I think you need to stop drunk posting or sharing personal issues on forums with grown ups present

Hence the questions about how much content is there and for what music.
If you're using a 35-40hz subsonic, then you're doing it wrong.

    No arguement here.

Just we read a lot about 60 or 80 Hz HPF, and 35-40 Hz tuning where some unloading is going to happen somewhere below that... and we have a bit over one decade.
    or
We read that the low frequency really does not matter... and if so, then a 35/40 Hz SSF would not be heard... which we both think would be heard.

Sub sonic / high pass set right around tuning frequency of ported/vented enclosure .
    Low pass is your choice [ 80 hz , 65 hz , 50 hz , etc.., ]

In the form of a rhetorical question made it sort of nice.

Attenuating is what I prefer over 'boosting' the low end.
Some artist get loud , where as really good music has soft passages mixed with more robust sounding passages ( dynamics ).

Re: Subwoofer tuning; How much music is actually under 80 Hz?

I started this thread because my perception is there is not much musical content under 80 Hz. Not that having a subwoofer doesn’t help fill out the sound or that there isn’t low bass that adds to the in car experience. I think I have a very good tune to my 335i. My installation and tuning was done by one of the top rated installers in the PNW, probably one of the more experienced with BMW’s in the USA.

Humor me and assume my tune is perfect for the sake of my premise. Sure, you can build a playlist with selected songs with decent under 80 Hz music but the average songs, the compressed formats, the way you transfer music to your iPhone or the music you stream, the device/source you use, much of that range is lost.

I never liked the loud, distorted booming I would hear from cars on the road and wanted to see if my car sounded similar after I added a subwoofer. I am happy to say it doesn’t.

Unplugging my sub and listening I’m sure would sound different but that wasn’t the point.

I’m adding a sub to one of my other cars and do the same with my home music and home theater systems. I love all the benefits of faithfully reproducing every bit of low frequency I can and look forward to adding that to my X6 that I am very excited to complete in the next few months. I have finished my subwoofer enclosure, picked up a couple MMats, will likely use the new Helix Ultra and am finalizing which cabin speakers to use.

Interesting forum I just joined, inside jokes aside and they don’t offend me.
