If you don't want the screws to ever come out coat the threads in JB Weld. If you want the option of removing them use breakaway Loctite.

you might actually want to run it thru PVC pipe, and use rivnuts to secure the fasteners.

Self taping screws will compromise the cars undercoat protection and eventually rust through. It may not be as much of a problem in your climate, especially if you don’t keep that Jeep for very long, but in the Northeast the salty spray would creep into that metal and destroy it in no time.

I'm pretty sure I want to make it work on the exterior... I'll have to climb under there and see what options I have. I would also consider using zip ties, as long as there is sufficient support and good spots to mount them to.
