    2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 w/8.4" Uconnect

    Greetings and Happy Holidays!

I'm nearing completion of phase 1 of my install so thought I should begin posting up some pics and walk-thru of my build. This will take me some time, so going to begin by listing the current components:

    Source: 8.4" Uconnect (Stock)

    Preamp: PAC Audio AmpPRO AP4-CH41

    DSP: Alpine PXE-0850S

Amps: Alpine PXE 0850S and (2) Alpine PDX-V9
    Drivers:
Front Doors: JBL GTO 939 6x9s
Dash Corners: JBL GTO 329 3.5
Dash Center: JBL GTO 329 3.5
Rear Doors: JBL GTO 939 6x9s
Rear Headliner: JBL GTO 329 3.5
    Subs: (4) Image Dynamics ID8v.4 D2

Sub Enclosure: Frostbite custom 5th gen Ram 1500

    RCA Cables: Stinger 6000

    Power Distribution:
Power/Ground Wire: KnuKonceptz Kolossus Fleks 1/0 and 4 gauge
    Distribution Blocks: Stinger HPM
Fuse: Stinger PRO w/175 amp ANL

    Speaker Wire:
Front & Rear: Stinger Speedwire patched into stock speaker harness
    Subs: KnuKonceptz Kord 10 gauge

Sound Deadening: Stinger Roadkill, RAAMaudio RAAMmat BXT II, RAAMaudio Ensolite IUO

    Tuning Tools: Audiofrog UMI-1

Okay, that completes my list...so far...

My plan is to bridge 4 channels of one of the PDX-V9s to deliver 200 x 2 to the front door GTO 939s. Yes, this is way overkill, but for now I'll have plenty of headroom, and later on when I upgrade to my 3-way set-up, I'll have plenty of power on-hand for mid-bass duties.

2 channels of the other PDX-V9 will output 100 x 2 to the front dash GTO 329s. Again, way overkill, but my future plans will require the power. I'm not using the other 2 channels currently.

Subs will be fed 500 x 2 coming from both PDX-V9s. Yes, I'll have to gain match to ensure I'm properly powering the (4) ID8.v4s, which are in a single-chambered sealed enclosure.

Future plans will include finish properly deadening all 4 doors (currently only a few layers of Roadkill behind the 6x9s) with inner and outer panels of Roadkill followed by a decoupling layer of Ensolite, then a layer of MLV to top things of. Also going to install some Roadkill Fastrings after fabricating some beefier baffles out of HDPE.

Next year I plan to upgrade my front-stage to a proper 3-way using vintage Altec Lansing M615s (6.5), M400 (4.0), and TW2 (3/4...it think). I'll also replace the rear doors with a set of M514 (5.25).

I am about 85% done with the install. Over the weekend I finished running the RCAs (passenger side) and the 1/0 (driver side). I also mounted the amp rack, which I had previously fashioned and wired outside the vehicle (yup, used 5Star Car Audio's method)

Tomorrow night I'll mount the subs in the enclosure and probably add some poly-fill prior-to. The Frostbite box is roughly 1.7cuft total airspace.

Later this week, I will begin tuning...wish me luck!

Okay, that's all for now. I'll include some pics in a reply and keep everyone posted with any updates going forward. Please use this build to help you with your own 5th gen Ram 1500 build. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

    Thanks!

Here's some beginning photos. I really didn't start taking pictures until I began running wire and building the amp rack. When I finish deadening the doors, I'll be sure to post up some pics!

This picture was taken last year before I purchased the PXE-0850s, Stinger 6000 RCAs, Stinger distribution blocks and fuse holder, JBL GTO 939s, and Stinger Speedwire. I still have the JBL MS-8 BNIB. Lol!

Pics of my Chinese version of the PXE-0850S I purchased off eBay. Yes, it did ship from overseas, and pretty quickly I might add! I was surprised!

My original plan... which is now for sale. If you're in the Phx area and you have a 5th gen Ram 1500. I'll sell it you cheap w/2 JBL GTO 12s!

Pics of the AmpPro install. I mounted this directly behind the 8.4" screen using some 3M industrial strength velcro to a control box that was conveniently located there. It turned out perfect! Doesn't move a bit! Some very strong hook&loop!

    Let the deadening games begin!

I started with a layer of Roadkill and added a second layer of BXT II in some of the more problem areas. The sheet metal was petri thin and flexed in a few areas. Click image for larger version.

Finishing up the back wall with some Ensolite (self-adhesive backed close-cell foam). Finding all the mounting holes for the stock wire harness and hardware made for a challenging game of memory!

Moving onto the amp rack. I decided to try my hand working with plastic this time around. All of my previous systems used MDF to mount the amps. Plastic is much more durable and resistant to the elements. Thanks to Dean & Fernando with 5 Star Car Audio (be sure to check them out on Youtube!) for their inspiration! I chose 3/8" HDPE (marine board) and using my routing table for the first time ever, managed to not take off any fingers, though I did come close a few times!

I recessed nuts into the back of the board so I could bolt on each component. Turned out great!
