With DSPs would it be possible to beat champions from 80's ?

With the advent of digital signal processors would it be easy to beat a system designed in the 80's or did they know how to use what they had better ?

I guess I should answer the original question. Yes, a new system that is properly tuned will sound better than a system that was done in the 80's. Even though there were some DSPs available in the early 90's, they weren't as flexible as the ones we have today and most competitors didn't have enough channels of amplification to benefit from what we have now. The DSPs of today are wonderful tools that competitors of yore could only dream about having.

Thank You Mac/Robert ! Steve always did the sound community proud ! I read everything he voiced an opinion on ( ECA ) , and have a cd or two he put together .
I seem to recall an interest in 18 decibel slopes when he crossed-over from one driver to the other.
