The starting point for tuning was way better than I expected!

for a start I took both ends crossovers off and did a reading out of curiousity more than anything... not a bad start point, and level matched by ear

then I applied various crossovers to get to the next results, 165 24db and 3500 24db on the mids

so some new none clamping rca plugs have arrived, so I knocked up a quick 0.75m rca

i also treated myself to a new Behringer mic interface and also my steel 10mm plates to be welded into the chassis have arrived, laser cut to 300mm x 245mm with a 210mm hole cut out, the speakers require 209, so I erred on the side of caution... I should have gone for the exact size seeing how accurate they are cut, but 1mm is not an issue

While the new plugs function, I don’t really like the shallow outer that fits onto the Socket... it maybe fits on 8mm and while they work I don’t think in a car it’s ideal so I’ve found some 1.5mm O rings to fit under the end of the plugs which will then squeeze the prongs of the locking plugs gently and apply just enough pressure to them to ensure a snug fit while not being locked...

I have also techflexed the optical cable that will now run down the car from topping to the dsp in the black and gold (Uptown gold) 1/4” techflex I have, that makes it look way better and I’m a tart, plus it gives some abrasion resistance also 👍🏼

Well observed for me they were a step sideways from the sb acoustics I think... but were a bit more compact and able to be fitted with screws from the front, very nice tweeter... if the 9.5” work under seat my budget will be released due to not needing a sub and the 604000 may be drafted in (I am in a budget limited class in EMMA sq)

i thought it might be one of the old-school 2904s but the flange is different. i've got a couple of r3004s in my build, they're fantastic for the size/price. i've got the larger sb rrs on the shelf for another project.

The top end roll off of the r3004/602000 kinda put me off, what I am interested in is the new sb acoustics sb21rdnc-c0004 tweeter which is a more compact version of the 29mm ring radiator

A bit more progress... it got wings!

Use your imagination and add some gloss black paint to it... it still needs a few bits nibbing in and filling to shape it better and make it line up with neighbouring trim a bit better 👍🏼

A few developments... I have put the iPhone back in... so I can whip the iPad housing out and give it several coats of high build primer

in other news I have also secured a genny 4 channel which had a gold service last year, it will be used from a power supply in the house to actively run the monitors I am building to be run from a dsp mini monitors will be knocked up from the sb satori 13cm I used initially for testing, sealed in 5litres with a set of 19mm tweeters I also purchased, then I will put a small active sub amp to better use in a 3cu ft sealed enclosure with a spare gz 15 for a bit of efficiency... or perhaps I may use a brand new plutonium sq10 I have in my supply cabinet I bought ages ago... but that is better off being sold really...

A but more dolphin glaze was applied... plus a bit of elbow grease with 80/240/500 grit paper...

The back section is not far off ready for gloss black... the front section needs more layers of primer as some parts soak it up more than others
