Thread: Sexual intercorsa...

  1. Back To Top    #171

    Re: Sexual intercorsa...

Test piece made and done... I am gonna say the led lighting is too bright (it’s not as bright as the pics make it look due to the exposure...) but I have a cunning plan to make it more glowing rather than mega bright as these leds are

also i gave it a quick spray job and rushed to get it together so the fingerprints in the paint are now official ways to identify it as being mine

I’m now thinking a pair of 8mm pieces routed out and a 3.25mm front lip with chamfer, paint it all and then use a chamfer bit to remove a 1mm lip on front and rear pieces in the centre to give a recessed 2mm lit section in the centre When sandwiched together, plus use a brand new chamfer bit so I don’t get an annoying line... then get my mate to paint them in two pack and bake it so it goes rock hard to alleviate finger prints

the issue is more about being able to see individual leds as well, so I am going to use some fibre optic glow lace I bought ages ago and have never used, cut a v into both sides and superglue the lace in so it makes a subtle glow

Can you frost/diffuse the outside edges and the inside edges where the LEDs are?

Yes that would help, but now I’ve seen a few issues the second iteration is already in the works... if it was staying I would indeed just give it all a rub down with 600 grit... in reality it’s fairly cloudy anyway, the leds look brighter than they are in reality... blue or red is my decision now... although my work may not be so happy with blue for some reason... Re: Sexual intercorsa...

New goodies arrived... the plan is now to extract the alpine pdx-m6 and put the sub onto the z150.6ap and move the midbass over to an ST-4xSQ bridged to a pair of 4ohm full depth hybrid audio 6x9’s

and also some scanspeak D3004-602000 have magically appeared from Holland so they will feature in the build shortly...

but bigger issues will be attended too, the left midrange since I swapped to 5.25” from 6.5”, this has raised the beaming frequency (the very top end of the speakers register pulls back to the speaker somewhat, so it then splits the centre a fair bit) and where the drivers narrow and I’m getting some nasty reflections from the screen which has narrowed the stage on the passenger side somewhat, and the left side now presents as being 8” inside the speaker, I even went as far as to trying a scan 10f in the left air vent and that presented as being 9” inside the pillar, so I am now rebuilding the left pod with the mid at the top to put it nearer to the screen and therefore making the reflection closer to the driver, and I will aim them further down the car a little to see if I can use some side window reflection to balance the windscreen reflection and get the sound to present as being from the speaker itself more or less, this is massive to getting a good well defined stage

    Re: Sexual intercorsa...

A bit more of the pillar developments... the five inch had too much dispersion in lower Registers so it’s improvise something with the sixes... 200hz and up with them IB in the pillars will be ok

so I took to the screen again with the marker pen, in Emma you can go 40mm from the dots on the screen perpendicular to the drivers line of sight... so straight up forty mm from the bottom dots and forty mm across from the drivers side across the screen, the passenger side is rarely an issue, so that’s gonna be fine I had an aim that worked well previously when I had no dash top on, but had to try the 5” as I could get a 2.5+l enclosure easily on both sides

so it’s in with a piece of 18mm ply wrapped in carpet to make the dash level as the dash falls away and has little downward sections at the side so you can’t slide it in both ways, so it is a case of compromise and fit some wedges

then test to see if I can get the speaker at the required angle on the drivers side... which was doable after getting the laser aimer out (please note I have carefully worked out what aims did work previously and not just decided to make them aim at a certain position as some just do...

so then it was mask up and mark on where the pods would come to for rough symmetry, then when I’ve fibrefilled the parts I can then see the pens ink where it’s bled into the fibreglass filler

so here’s where I’m at currently, a 6mm frame for round the base of the pod fixed down with three screws which should be accessible at the end of the build (perhaps by removing the heater vent and screwing upwards into the pod just because it will be nearer that way I think... I have some extra big screws to fire into the same hole upwards 👍🏼
