A few more pics of the tunnel for the screen blower, the beginnings of the front of the sub enclosure, now to do the passenger side and area around the clocks
i am also minus a thumb tip thanks to not following the golden rule... don’t put your fingers where you wouldn’t put your cock it’s not warm enough to make me sweat, and there are no tears... but there’s definitely some blood in it now
I’ll show more detailed pics as I take it to pieces and glue it up properly
each individual piece is rebated where it overlaps the long front piece and also the next piece along and it’s also shaped on the front edge to meet the lip
once I’m happy I will foaming glue all the pieces together and add a brace at the halfway across point also, then once it’s done I’m going to add a piece of 6mm mdf I think to the side of the air vent chimney mouth and make a bit of a contoured shape from it, I’m happy so far with progress, even if I can only count to 9.8 now the shape curves downwards in both directions although I’m tempted to make the front corner in the pics have a little more shape, but perhaps a session with the grinder and some fibreglass will satisfy my anal attention to detail
I gave you an ironic thumbs up! ;-)
More pics from Craig’s boot for the euros...
fake aluminium tubs installed and lit, looks a bit overblown in pics, but in real life it’s just a blue glow
Very nice and clean. Really like those tubs and how clean it makes everything.
Ill get a better pic next time I have it naked, I also have another layer with mesh in so I can carpet it and hide everything... I am contemplating a pin switch or micro switch to turn the lighting off when that’s fitted to not give the game away also
I wanted to do something to showcase the cables and also be lit, it’s brushed and goes the same way as the amp on the floor and sides, the leds are 120/meter which is double the normal amount, it means a very clean consistent light and doesn’t have dim and bright spots like the ones that are 60 or 80 per meter, it might actually look better in white as the cables are techflexed in red and blue, I might change it yet
for this week the car has been left with me and gavin from subtronix car audio to basically tune the new setup, it’s had a fresh helix (my old dsp pro 2) and the two zapcos are also new to it, it’s a bit different, but just needs dialling in now
we have a few little jobs like modifying the passenger side a pillar to put the tweeter off axis as it was bleeding across the screen when on axis, gavin did the mid a bit back, but having listened critically the tweeter needs moving also, pink noise from just the tweeters came from somewhere approx 7-8” to the centre of the car, that compromises the centre and messes with staging and imaging, no good for a car at the euros level... so gav is gonna redo the tweeter mount while I’m at work tomorrow, then together we can set it up and save a few different tunes with various crossover points and see what gets the best of it
Super, super clean. Plus your hand built cables are gorgeous. I have loved watching your projects come together. Keep up the good work!
