It's ironic that as I'm listening to the audiobook of Debt of Honor and wondering what other crazy scenarios he would come up with, I find out that he passed away. It's a truly sad day.

Word, a great loss to the suspense/action genre. His books blew the movies out of the water. He once was quoted as saying, selling a book to Hollywood was like handing your daughter to a pimp. Also, did ya know that after Hunt for Red October, he was asked to come to the white house to dinner with Reagan, once he got there he was thoroughly grilled about his knowledge of Russian submarine information. He stood firm in saying that everytiing he knew was from publically accessible sources, but some of it was considered "classified" by the navy.
