    Amps racks! I'm using a pair of Zapco Z150.4LX 4x150 to power the front stage
    (one amp left, one amp right. Ch1 TW, CH2 MR, CH3&4 Bridged to MB) and a 1k to power the sub. The sub amp is hidden behind one of the visible amp racks and attached using riv nuts and hex head bolts.

    First thing I did was build a replica of the amp out of chip board and CA glue. This lets me use this during mock up and fabrication without any risk of damaging the amplifiers.






    Next was the construction of the amp racks. The racks themselves are made from welded steel box tubing with wood and body filler cover panels. Rack are bolted to the body of the car using hex head machine screws and riv nuts. The cover panels are attached using neo magnets.

    Both amps are secured with riv nuts and hex head machine screws with nylon washers to protect the amps from scratches. I also used several of the same cable clamps that I used in the rear deck distro block.

    Again, a bit out of order but I guess I'll post some wiring pics. One of the big upgrades I did to this 52 year old car was to get rid of the 60 amp MB alternator and swap in a 170 amp GM large case. It wasn't that difficult but I did have to fabricate new brackets. Here's a few pics of that process and of the underhood wiring, big 3, etc.

    Figured I'd post an apdate to this thread. I had a long weekend with my teammates building a system in my nephews car. I had most of the NW members of Team Hybrids down here working on my wife's nephew's car...early 90's 5-series BMW. Three sets of Hybrid Audio Unity components, a pair of Savard Hi-Q 12's all powered by a Zapco ST-6X SQ and a zapco ST-2000XM II. This car is going to sound awesome! He's not interested in proper staging or imaging but more concerned with loud and clear with plenty of bass.

    Next part of the Mercedes build I'll show is the external power connection. I wired in an Anderson connector that runs from under the rear bumper to the power distro block in the rear deck. This lets me plug in a 12v power supply while I'm at a show. All of the cables were wrapped in tech-flex. Like the rest of the install, everything is secured with hex head machine screws.
