Next step in the construction of the rear deck was to build 3 "pods" using MDF.

I then painted the insides of the pods flat black and lined the bottom floor of it in black vinyl. You can see in the pics that I used threaded inserts to mount every to. Also, if you look closely I used hex head hardware throuout the entire install...black oxide finish for inerior hardware and stainless steel for the engine bay and exterior.

Next I wrapped the entire piece in fleece fabric, then polyester resin followed by body filler where needed.

I then wrapped it in black vinyl, mounted all of the gear and made a set of pressed grills using the same hex pattern mesh grill that I used to protect the front speakers.

Moving on to the truck. I chose a single 15" Hybrid Audio Clarus sub and built a 2.5 cf sealed enclosure with 1.5" front baffle and a 3/4" plexi rear. I also texture coated the inside and painted it to match the exterior of the car.

I started by applying sound deadening to the floor of the trunk as well as on the sheet metal behind the back seat although I cut a lot of this out. For the bolts mounting the sub to the front baffle of the enclosure, I didn't want any hardware visible from inside the enclosure. I rabbeted an edge that let the t-nuts sit flush. This lets me send a bolt thru that is long enough to secure the sub but not protrude out the other side. I also put a 45* chamfer on the visible edge of the cutout.

While building and installing the sub enclosure I also worked on the floor of the trunk. The trunk floor consists of a 1/4" birch base with white oak planks stained to match the interior wood trim. Some of my pics might be a little out of order. I sometimes get a little too focused on my work and forget to take pics.

First thing I did was to use a bunch of scrap chipboard and CA glue to get the correct shape and then transferred that pattern over to the birch plywood.
