    Jerry, you could take them out and coat them with something like epoxy paint. MDF and water or even some moisture are not friends.

    Definitely might consider that. Thanks for the tip.

    The more I think about it the more I kinda want to just trash them but I know they are effectively reducing the amount of acoustic energy going directly into the door cavity.

    Having the leg room back would be nice too. I’m not a small person and the Chevy Cruze isn’t a very spacious car.

    If I do trash them and go back to rings I’m gonna need to deaden the living shit out of the doors. Might suck but I’ve had them all tore apart before so there shouldn’t be any surprises.

    Use ResoNix Sound Deadener. I used some and it’s nice stuff that works well.

    Extruded PVC is the solution to your moisture problem.

    Not just any PVC. The extruded is stronger and lighter. We made a 3.5” think baffle out of .75” material and it weighed 60% LESS then MDF, was waterproof, lasts FOREVER and is super easy to cut.
